About the Role

Bed Management Position

Provides initial communication for bed assignment and registration of patients for admission or transfer to provide for appropriate billing and patient record maintenance, ensures correct data entry of patient information. Initiates placement of patients into appropriate level of care with assistance as needed by the Admission Case Manager according to Patient Logistic Center guidelines.

Job Responsibility

  • Performs patient transfer functions according to patient logistic center guidelines. Maintains transfer list and enters discharges in the system.
  • Assists with admission/registration process functions as it pertains to the role of bed assignment.
  • Performs patient placement according to patient logistic center guidelines.
  • Performs admission/registration financial functions. Initiates financial clearance in collaboration with Case Management and Financial Services for patients being transferred in from other institutions.
  • Informs supervisor when bed assignment operations are interrupted.
  • Assists with distribution of computer-generated reports, i.e., A.D.T., in-house Census, etc.
  • Obtains and records necessary information regarding expirations to ensure accuracy and timely preparation of death certificates.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualification

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year registration experience in hospital or related healthcare setting, required.
  • Typing 20 wpm, required. Ability to use general office equipment, required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, required.
