Assistant Nurse Manager

Novant Health is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, and compassionate care within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As an integral frontline leader, the Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates closely with the Nurse Manager, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate day-to-day operations, support clinical excellence, and promote an environment where patients, families, and team members feel respected, informed, and cared for. In this role, you will provide direct leadership and guidance to nursing staff, serving as a clinical resource and role model for evidence-based practice and professional standards. You will assist with staff scheduling, daily assignments, and real-time problem solving to ensure adequate coverage and smooth patient flow. You will participate in hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance evaluations, helping to build a highly engaged nursing team that reflects Novant Health’s commitment to diversity, safety, and personalized care. The Assistant Nurse Manager plays a key role in quality and patient safety initiatives by monitoring clinical outcomes, supporting adherence to protocols, and engaging staff in continuous improvement projects. You will help ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and best practices in infection prevention, documentation, and patient education. Collaboration is central to this position; you will work with providers, case management, ancillary departments, and leadership to coordinate care, resolve patient and family concerns, and optimize transitions of care. You will also support professional development by mentoring nurses, identifying learning needs, and encouraging certification and advanced education.
