About the Role
Assistant Manager- Great Benefits Discount Tire, founded in 1960, is a leading independent retailer of tires and wheels in the United States. We are looking for an Assistant Manager to support retail operations in our automotive vehicles, parts, and service environment. In this role, you will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure an exceptional customer experience, safe and efficient store operations, and a positive, team-focused workplace. As an Assistant Manager, you will help lead a team of retail and service associates, coaching them on customer service standards, product knowledge, and proper tire and wheel service procedures. You will assist with daily store operations including opening and closing the store, monitoring workflow in the service bays, maintaining inventory levels for tires, wheels, and related automotive products, and ensuring all work is performed safely and accurately. You will actively engage with customers on the sales floor and at the service counter, listening to their needs and providing expert recommendations on tire and wheel selections that prioritize safety, performance, and value. You will handle scheduling, training, and ongoing development of team members, supporting Discount Tire’s culture of growth, inclusion, and mutual respect. The Assistant Manager will help track store performance metrics, such as sales results, customer satisfaction, and productivity, and will assist in implementing initiatives to improve these outcomes. You will also help resolve customer concerns, process payments, manage cash handling procedures, and ensure compliance with company policies and automotive safety standards. This position is ideal for someone with retail or automotive service experience who enjoys a hands-on environment and leading by example. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting that includes both front-of-house customer interaction and back-of-house shop activity, including exposure to tools, equipment, and physical tasks related to tire and wheel services. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are important, as is a commitment to providing friendly, knowledgeable service to every customer.
