About the Role

As an Assistant Manager at Discount Tire in our Retail Operations department, you will help lead daily store activities in a fast-paced automotive environment focused on tires, wheels, and related services. Working closely with the Store Manager, you will support team scheduling, workload planning, and floor coverage to ensure excellent customer service and efficient operations. You will coach and guide sales and service associates, helping them deliver friendly, knowledgeable assistance to customers selecting tires and wheels, explaining product options, maintenance recommendations, and safety considerations in clear, customer-focused language. You will assist in monitoring service quality in the bays, verifying that installation, rotation, balancing, and repair work meet company standards and safety guidelines, and stepping in to help resolve technical or process issues. This role includes overseeing daily cash handling and point-of-sale activities, helping to manage inventory levels, participating in ordering and stock organization, and ensuring that displays, signage, and product information are accurate and appealing. You will support training efforts for new team members, reinforce Discount Tire’s policies and procedures, and model the supportive, inclusive culture that values teamwork, mutual respect, and work-life balance. You will also help handle customer concerns or escalations, finding solutions that protect both customer satisfaction and store productivity. Success in this position requires strong customer service skills, basic automotive and tire knowledge, the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, and comfort working on your feet in a hands-on retail and service environment.
