About the Role

Dominion Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking an Adult Trauma Mental Health Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team dedicated to compassionate, patient-centered care. In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care to adult patients experiencing acute and chronic mental health conditions, with a strong focus on trauma-informed practice. As a Registered Nurse, you will complete comprehensive mental health and trauma assessments, collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other care team members, and contribute to individualized treatment and safety plans. You will administer medications, monitor patient responses, and document all care in accordance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices for behavioral health. Using evidence-based trauma-informed approaches, you will support patients in crisis through therapeutic communication, de-escalation techniques, and structured group and individual interventions that promote stabilization and recovery. You will continually assess risk for self-harm or harm to others, implement and monitor safety precautions, and participate in crisis intervention, code responses, and behavior management plans as needed. The Adult Trauma Mental Health Nurse will educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, coping strategies, and community resources, encouraging engagement in ongoing therapy and follow-up care. You will collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate discharge planning and ensure smooth transitions of care. The ideal candidate is a compassionate RN with strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills, comfortable working with adults experiencing trauma, mood disorders, psychosis, and co-occurring conditions in an inpatient or intensive outpatient setting. This is a full-time role with a hybrid of on-unit and limited administrative responsibilities, requiring flexibility for shifts that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to meet patient care needs.

Qualifications

  • RN license
  • Psychiatric/mental health experience
